Polyester Poy yarn is a multifilament yarn that is only partially stretched during production. Made directly from PTA & MEG by spinning Polyester PET Chips, Polyester Poy can be used to produce textured or specialty yarns as well as being twisted and woven into fabrics for applications including industrial use, upholstery upholstery car furnishing filter fabric etc.
Polyester partially oriented yarns are expected to experience rapid expansion due to rising automotive sales worldwide and consumer trends for comfortable garments with high resilience, among others. European construction and textile industries also play a crucial role in driving demand for these yarns.
During production, polyester chips or flakes are melted at high temperatures in a polycondensation section and spun into filaments by variable speed extruding pumps, using variable speed extrusion. Next they are cooled using precisely controlled, conditioned, filtered air from the quench section before being drawn and wound onto bobbins with the aid of sizing agents added at spinning position to protect yarn against damage while giving it a soft yet comfortable hand feel.
After spinning is complete, yarn can be further twisted, texturized and drawn for weaving or warp knitting of fabrics. Once texturized and drawn, textured yarns may then be further twisted and drawn for weaving or warp knitting of these fabrics - including conventional (DY), draw (DTY), air or conventional air (CAY) textures to produce fabrics suitable for apparel production, terry towel usage or home decor purposes.
Polyester POY yarn comes in three lustres: Semi-Dull, Full-Dull and Bright. It can also be further processed using ring spinning, OE spinning or weaving applications to produce yarns suitable for apparel production, sports wear, mattresses upholstery fabric production as well as automotive fabrics.
POY is an ideal raw material for textile and fabric manufacturing, providing high breaking strength, excellent elongation and elasticity, comfortable hand feel and lustre, good heat setting/resilience properties as well as low shrinkage rates and fast drying speeds. Not only does polyester yarn offer excellent colorfastness and light resistance properties, it is highly recyclable and eco-friendly compared to other synthetic yarns - which makes it the ideal choice for clothing, textiles, home furnishings applications as well as durability applications like cotton and silk fabrics. In addition, its products are highly abrasion-resistant with a high tensile strength making it cost-effective compared to similar alternatives such as silk.
